Welcome to the Black Hills Youth Football and Cheer Family!
The Black Hills Youth Football & Cheer League (BHYFL) is a trusted youth tackle football and sideline cheer program serving families across the Black Hills. Our goal is to provide a safe, positive, and supportive environment where young athletes can learn the fundamentals of football and cheer while growing in confidence, teamwork, and character.
What Families Can Expect
BHYFL is made up of geographically based associations so families can stay connected to their local communities. Each association is supported by a Commissioner, Cheer Coordinator, and board members who work together to ensure a strong experience for athletes and parents alike.
Safety first: All football coaches are USA Football Heads Up Certified.
Trusted volunteers: Background checks (federal, state, and local) are completed for all volunteers who work directly with athletes, including coaches, team parents, and board members.
Family-friendly scheduling: Practices are held in the evenings during the week, with games on Saturdays at locations throughout the Black Hills.
Community-based: Local organizations provide practice fields and home game facilities, helping keep teams close to home.
Affordable and accessible: BHYFL is not a travel or tournament-heavy league and does not require costly additional fees.
Our Commitment to Your Athlete
To provide the best experience possible, football teams are limited to 25–28 players, allowing for better instruction, development, and playing opportunities. We encourage families to register early once they know their athlete plans to participate.
BHYFL is committed to fairness and sportsmanship. We do not allow recruiting, team stacking, elite teams, or unethical coaching practices. While no program is perfect, our dedication to these values has helped create a league families can trust year after year.
We invite your family to join BHYFL and become part of a league focused on development, integrity, and community.
